Sex chromosome
Chromosomes containing genes that determine an organism's sex. In humans there are two sex chromosomes, designated the X chromosome and the Y chromosome. Most females have two X chromosomes, while most males have one X chromosomes and one Y chromosome. Humans have a total of 46 chromosomes, of which two are sex chromosomes and the remaining 44 are called autosomes.
