Familial adenomatous polyposis
FAP stands for familial adenomatous polyposis. It is an inherited disease in which thousands of polyps form in a person's colon. These polyps usually develop before the person turns 20 years old and almost always lead to colorectal cancer. This disease is caused by a change in the APC gene.
