Colonoscopy
A medical procedure that is used to screen the inside of a person's colon and rectum for abnormalities or possoble cancer. In this procedure, the doctor inserts a lighted tube attached to a video camera into the colon through the anus The advantage of this procedure over sigmoidoscopy (another surveillance technique) is that it allows the doctor to see the entire length of the colon.
