L. Scott Cole, Founder, President and CEO
|
|
Scott
Cole is Genetic Health's founder, president and CEO.
He founded the Company based on his belief that genomics
and consumer healthcare were ready to converge and that
the Internet was the ideal medium to bring them together.
Prior to founding Genetic Health, Mr. Cole was a senior
marketing and strategic planning executive at PE Corporation's
Applied Biosystems Division. In his last position there,
he managed the company's DNA sequencing and gene mapping
systems, PE Corporation's largest and fastest growing
business. His leadership in the development and commercialization
of advanced DNA sequencing systems would later provide
the technology basis for PE's Celera Genomics venture
and the eventual sequencing of the human genome. Mr.
Cole received his BS in molecular biology with honors
from the University of California, Berkeley, his MS
in microbiology from Columbia University, and his MS
in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's
Sloan School of Management.

Miriam S. Komaromy, MD, Vice President of Clinical Services
|
|
Dr.
Miriam Komaromy is Genetic Health's vice president of
clinical services. She is board certified in internal
medicine and keeps her clinical skills current as an
attending physician in the Adult Genetics Clinic at
the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Previously, she was director of UCSF's Primary Care
Internal Medicine Program, and associate chief of the
medical service at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr.
Komaramy has a background in health services research
and has published on physician practice patterns and
barriers to healthcare access. She has also designed
and taught continuing medical education courses for
physicians on adult-onset inherited disease. Dr. Komaromy
received her BA in philosophy and classics from St.
Johns College. She holds a MD from UCSF and also received
her internal medicine residency training and her Robert
Wood Johnson research fellowship training at UCSF.

George Morris, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer
|
|
As Genetic Health's chief technology
officer, George Morris is responsible for all technical
aspects of the business. Prior to joining Genetic Health,
Mr. Morris was director of software engineering at Celera
Genomics where he built and led a team that developed
distributed computing applications using Java technology
for gene expression analysis and laboratory information
management systems. Prior to that Mr. Morris built and
led the IT and software engineering groups of a start-up
division at Applied Biosystems. Mr. Morris also previously
served as software director for Jostens Learning, an
educational software company. He received his BA in
applied physics from the University of California, San
Diego.

Criss Walworth, Director of Marketing and Business Development
|
|
Criss
Walworth serves as Genetic Health's director of marketing
and business development. Prior to joining Genetic Health,
Ms. Walworth was director of marketing and business
development at Celera Genomics, where she initiated
contracts and established research collaborations for
Celera's service business unit, which provided gene
expression profiling services to pharmaceutical and
biotechnology clients. Prior to that, she spent nine
years in marketing Applied Biosystems, where she held
executive marketing positions in the genetic analysis
and GenScope divisions. Ms. Walworth began her career
in biotechnology research at Genentech. She received
her BS in chemistry with honors from Michigan Technological
University.

Mignon Fogarty, Executive Producer
|
|
As executive producer, Mignon Fogarty is responsible for the user's experience on the Genetic Health Web site. Before joining Genetic Health, Ms. Fogarty was the editorial director at CaregiverZone, the editor-in-chief at LongerLiving.com, the vice president of marketing at 7Software, and a pharmaceutical management consultant at Plan A, Inc. While at Stanford she was active in the program in genomics, ethics, and society (PGES), participating in the working group on genetic testing for Alzheimer's disease, and publishing on the impact of genetic testing on the long term care insurance industry. Ms. Fogarty holds a MS in biology from Stanford University and a BA in english from the University of Washington.

Jeff McCaig, Creative Director
|
|
As creative director, Jeff McCaig is responsible for establishing the company’s brand identity through all marketing activities, including the www.genetichealth.com consumer web site. Jeff has a long history of helping advertising agencies and their clients embrace new media. Most recently, Jeff was a senior art director at The Tombras Group, a full service advertising and strategic marketing company. At Tombras, Jeff established their in-house web production capabilities and served as the creative lead for all Internet projects. In 1999, he launched Eastman Chemical Company’s e-commerce initiative, helping to build the foundation for Eastman’s e-brand and positioning Eastman as a pioneer and a recognized e-business leader in the chemical industry. Jeff got his start in Internet development at J.P. Hogan & Company in 1995, where he designed web sites for Osi Chemical Company and Shaw Carpets. His breadth of creative experience spans a variety of industries such as chemical, high tech, tourism, consumer electronics, flooring, and entertainment and includes Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies such as Shaw Industries, Arco Chemical Company and Phillips Consumer Electronics. After completing a BS in engineering science from the University of Tennessee in 1989, Jeff co-founded a successful graphic design firm, Art Box.

John Shon, MD, Director of Medical Informatics
|
|
John Shon serves as the director of medical informatics for Genetic Health. He is Board Certified in internal medicine and is an attending physician in the Internal Medicine Clinic at Stanford University. Prior to joining Genetic Health, Dr. Shon obtained a MS in medical informatics at Stanford, where he published research on the quality and credibility of healthcare information on the Internet. He combines his background and research in molecular biology, clinical medicine, and medical informatics to guide the implementation of Genetic Health's information systems and privacy and security policies. Dr. Shon received his A.B. in biochemistry from Harvard University. He holds an M.D. from Stanford Medical School and received his training in internal medicine at the University of Chicago.

Kari Danziger, MS, CGC, Clinical Genetics Specialist
|
|
Kari Danziger is a board certified genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She holds a masters degree from Brandeis University and received her BA in biology and psychology from Emory University. Prior to joining Genetic Health, she worked as a cancer genetic counselor at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where she provided genetic counseling, cancer risk assessment, and services to individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer syndromes. She also served as the study manager for the hereditary colorectal cancer research studies. Kari is currently a clinical genetics specialist at Genetic Health.

Jennifer Graham, MS, CGC, Clinical Genetics Program Manager
|
|
Jennifer Graham received her MS in human genetics from Sarah Lawrence College and is board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She worked for many years as a clinical genetic counselor, specializing initially in reproductive genetics and more recently on adult onset genetic diseases. She specializes in risk assessment and communication technology. She is currently the Manager for the Clinical Genetics Program at Genetic Health.

Larry Prensky, MS, CGC, CCGC, Clinical Genetics Specialist
|
|
Larry Prensky is a certified genetic counselor in both Canada and the United States. He received his masters in genetic counseling from the University of British Columbia with a special emphasis on the use of computers in genetic counseling. After graduating, he practiced at Victoria General Hospital and subsequently joined Genetic Health as a resident clinical genetics specialist. He has also taught high school biology and general science in Jamaica.
